Funding and Support

Building a sustainable future for the Copper Kingdom requires more than just a vision; it requires a robust financial foundation and the backing of a committed network of partners. Over the past year, the Amlwch Industrial Heritage Trust (AIHT) has successfully secured vital seed funding and established diversified income streams to drive the Parys Mountain project forward.

Grant Funding and Financial Strategy

The Trust’s financial report for the year ending September 2025 highlights a period of significant investment and proactive financial management. A cornerstone of this success was a grant of £20,000 awarded by the Isle of Anglesey Charitable Trust (IACT) specifically for the new project on Parys Mountain. To date, just over £11,000 of this grant has been strategically utilized for project management fees and essential equipment to lay the groundwork for our new visitor centre.

Funds have been directly reinvested into the site’s future, including £4,860 for the supply and installation of a new storage container to protect our collection and £18,053 in total project management fees to ensure professional delivery of our ambitions.

Filming and Earned Income

Parys Mountain’s unique, otherworldly landscape has become an increasingly popular location for major film and TV productions. In partnership with Anglesey Mining PLC this has provided the Trust with essential operating capital but also funds the necessary warden services required to protect the site during large-scale productions.

Strategic Partnerships

Our progress is made possible through the “buy-in” and collaborative action of numerous public and private bodies. Key strategic partners include:

  • Anglesey Mining Plc (AMC): Our primary partner on the mountain and long-term lessor of the heritage site.
  • Isle of Anglesey County Council: We are working together to ensure our vision aligns with the North Anglesey Economic Regeneration Action Plan, acting as a flagship cultural and environmental project.
  • Heritage and Conservation Bodies: We maintain active consultation with Cadw on building designs and have joined the UNESCO Global Geopark (GeoMôn) Advisory Group.
  • Community and Academic Partners: We have established links with Oriel Môn for archive collaboration and are developing a Research Memorandum of Understanding with various Higher Education institutes.

A Growing Circle of Support

The scale of our ambition has garnered endorsements from a wide range of respected voices Llinos Medi, Member of Parliament for Anglesey, has voiced her strong support, describing the project as a potential flagship for Welsh pride and heritage. Other prominent backers include the Marquess of Anglesey, TV presenter Sian Lloyd, and Rhun ap Iorwerth, Leader of Plaid Cymru.

Looking ahead, we are actively engaging with potential seed funders and preparing bids for the NDA Socio-Economic Fund and the Big Lottery Rural Fund to ensure the Copper Kingdom remains a landmark destination for generations to come.
